The Psychedelic Chinese Jug Band

Welcome to the first posting from Commander Barkfeather (formerly known as Rufus T. Firefly)! This site will be dedicated to public and personal musings on current events, social trends, politics (especially Missouri politics), religion, and miscellaneous esoterica we happen upon in our daily lives. Additionally, look for important announcements regarding the Jefferson City chapter of Democracy For America, of which I happen to be the organizer. Postings and comments are welcome provided they stay on topic and are free of personal animosity and acrimony.

Those looking for chics would be better served elsewhere. Although I am a big fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, I will not be posting comments on sports--and I would ask you to do likewise. Comments on books, movies, radio, television or other media pertaining to the above mentioned topics are welcome. Announcements of various local groups and organizations dealing with these topics are also allowed, provided they are not exclusory or denominational ("A debate on Darwinism versus Intelligent Design will be held at..." is allowed; "A prayer meeting at Bible Baptist Church..." is not allowed). Personally, I have never seen an episode of Survivor, Everybody Loves Raymond, or American Idol. Discussions on banalities will be heavily edited by the webhost (me). I would ask each of you to respect these general guidelines, and I reserve the right to limit or, if necessary, prohibit postings I deem inappropriate. I know... Bummer!

However, together we can ask questions, give opinions, and explore solutions, no matter how unconventional, from all points of view, to the concerns that impact each of us. Just keep it clean!

Finally, the name... Back in the sixties, I formed a rock band. We called ourselves "Commander Barkfeather And The Psychedelic Chinese Jug Band"; I was Commander Barkfeather. Despite the clever sobriquet, the band never really took off because no club could fit the name on the marquee. Go figure! I have decided to resurrect the appellation for this website. Henceforth, I shall be known as Commander Barkfeather (or CB), and participants shall become members of the Jug Band. Have fun and be good.
